“The new driver’s license system that was launched on August 13, 2018 is very slow, which causes lines and longer wait times.

Please take this into consideration when planning your trip to driver’s license, especially when you are trying to arrive in time to meet a testing deadline. Wait times can be over an hour, sometimes two hours, depending on customer volume.

Additionally, there are times we have to call the State office for overrides or for assistance with bugs or glitches in the system, and it can often take a half hour or more for them to answer the phone, which greatly increases the amount of time it takes to complete a transaction.

We apologize for the inconvenience, and greatly appreciate your patience!”

We now accept credit cards.  There is a surcharge of $1.00 plus 3% of the transaction fee.

Testing Hours:  (All tests must be started by the testing cutoff time)

  • Valid proof of Idaho residency

***New Rules Regarding Instruction Permits***

In the past, the rule for instruction permit renewals was that as long as the permit had not expired for a year or more, the applicant would not be required to retake the written test to either renew the permit or to continue on with getting the license or endorsement.

The Idaho Transportation Department has made the following change: If the instruction permit expires, the applicant will be required to retake the written test if the previous test was taken and passed a year or more ago.

If you have any questions, please contact our office at 208-983-2217.
